The session was also attended by <strong data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"698\">Dr. Vahid Mirhosseini<\/strong>, Deputy Attorney General for Public Rights and Crime Prevention; <strong data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"796\">Dr. Mohammad Hossein Sadeghi<\/strong>, Director General of the Office for Crime and Social Harm Prevention; <strong data-start=\"867\" data-end=\"896\">Dr. Sharif Torkaman-Nejad<\/strong>, Scientific Advisor; <strong data-start=\"918\" data-end=\"938\">Dr. Nader Asgari<\/strong>, Technical Advisor; and <strong data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"987\">Hamidreza Shahsavari<\/strong>, Legal Advisor to the Association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1265\">During the session, the Honorable Attorney General emphasized that <strong data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1265\">two major judicial challenges in the country\u2014namely theft and drug-related crimes\u2014are both closely linked to tobacco use, which often serves as a gateway to these issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1623\">At the beginning of the meeting, <strong data-start=\"1300\" data-end=\"1315\">Dr. Sadeghi<\/strong> presented an overview of the current situation regarding tobacco use, existing laws and regulations, and actions undertaken by the Office of the Attorney General in this field. <strong data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1508\">Dr. Masjedi<\/strong> then elaborated on ongoing national efforts and the role of the Association in advancing tobacco control policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1728\">Following these discussions and the Attorney General\u2019s directives, several key points were highlighted:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1730\" data-end=\"2606\">\n<li data-start=\"1730\" data-end=\"1815\">\n<p data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1815\">Upholding <strong data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"1770\">moral and ethical values<\/strong> as principles superior to any written law.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1816\" data-end=\"1913\">\n<p data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1913\">Recognizing that <strong data-start=\"1835\" data-end=\"1910\">family and social ethics form the foundation of civic and public rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2096\">\n<p data-start=\"1916\" data-end=\"2096\">Emphasizing <strong data-start=\"1928\" data-end=\"1965\">cultural and educational measures<\/strong> to stigmatize tobacco use and promote public awareness in alignment with the Supreme Leader\u2019s call for \u201cJihad of Clarification.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2364\">\n<p data-start=\"2099\" data-end=\"2364\">Reinforcing <strong data-start=\"2111\" data-end=\"2167\">coordination between legal and religious authorities<\/strong> to ensure effective enforcement and oversight of tobacco control laws, including formal correspondence with the Office of the President, the Ministry of Health, and other relevant organizations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2365\" data-end=\"2606\">\n<p data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2606\">Stressing the <strong data-start=\"2381\" data-end=\"2423\">importance of holding regular meetings<\/strong> of the National Tobacco Control Headquarters with active participation from representatives of the Attorney General\u2019s Office, in accordance with the law ratified by the Parliament.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2608\" data-end=\"2854\">This high-level meeting signifies a growing intersectoral collaboration between Iran\u2019s judiciary and public health advocates, aiming to strengthen the legal and cultural foundations of tobacco control and protect public welfare across the nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, October 18, 2025 (26 Mehr 1404), a meeting was held at the Office of the Attorney General of Iran between Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohebi, the Honorable Attorney General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Dr. Mohammad Reza Masjedi, Secretary-General of the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association.
