On Friday, 27 December 2025, an orientation and training session on “Tobacco-Free City” was conducted both in-person and online at the Qarchak County Health and Treatment Network, with the aim of highlighting the importance of tobacco control and discussing practical strategies for implementing the initiative. The session was attended by managers and healthcare staff of the network.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Association, Dr. Sharif Torkamanzhad, Scientific Advisor of the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association, delivered an educational presentation at the Qarchak Health Network management office. The session covered topics including the tobacco industry, the health and social consequences of tobacco use, types of tobacco products, and the frameworks for achieving a tobacco-free city. He also outlined scientific and practical strategies to implement the program effectively.

At the conclusion of the session, the Qarchak Health Network management announced its readiness to transform the network into a “Tobacco-Free Health Network” by mid-February 2026. It was also decided that the “Tobacco-Free City” initiative would be presented at the county governor’s office and city council and subsequently reviewed and approved by the County Health and Food Security Working Group.

Based on the session’s decisions, the network will proceed with obtaining certifications for tobacco-free health networks, comprehensive health centers, health bases, and hospitals, as well as formally pursuing the implementation of the “Tobacco-Free City” plan at the county level.
