Performance of PAD-Helpers’ Chanting Group, affiliated to the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association (Varamin branch), on the closing ceremony of the National No-Tobacco Week
On July 3rd, 2019, on the closing ceremony of the National No-Tobacco Week, the PAD-Helpers’ Chanting Group, affiliated to the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association (IATA), performed a chant for the audience. This ceremony was held in collaboration with the Tehran Municipality’s Health Department at the Hall of Ivan-e-Shams, affiliated to the Deputy of Social and Cultural Affairs in the Tehran Municipality, with the presence of Dr. Masjedi, the Secretary-General of IATA. This chant, which was prepared by the PAD-Helpers of Varamin County, was well performed and embraced, and at the end, the group received some prizes from the officials of the Tehran Municipality’s Health Department and was appreciated.
At the ceremony, Dr. Masjedi, while thanking the officials of the Tehran Municipality, announced the satisfactory progress of PAD project in Varamin County and added that the city of Varamin was selected as the pilot phase regarding its particular situation, the presence of foreign nationals, and the high amount of immigration to this city. The plan is to be implemented in Tehran in the near future.
Speaking critically of the improper implementation of the tobacco tax law, Dr. Masjedi pointed out to the worrying figures on tobacco consumption in Iranian adolescents and youth, especially among young girls.
Finally, supporting the formation of the Tobacco Control Fraction in the Iranian Parliament, he criticized the Iranian Parliament due to the cancellation of inquiry on the removing of the name of hookah lounges from the list of public places.
