The first tournament of Pad-Helpers of Tehran province in Qarchak County
According to the Public Relations of the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association (IATA), the first tournament of Pad-Helpers was held on May 25th−26th, 2019, in the fields of track and field, swimming, skillful Haft-Sang (Seven Stones), Dal-Palan, and archery.
According to the director of the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association, the purpose of the tournament was to familiarize people, especially adolescents and young people, with IATA, as well as public awareness on the harms of tobacco. He described this tournament as an effective step towards a tobacco-free society in partnership with related organizations. According to him, the city of Varamin will be introduced as the first tobacco-free city in the country.
The tournament was held by the Qarchak Administration of Labor and Social Welfare, the Workers’ Board of Tehran Province, and in collaboration with IATA in Shahid Mola-Aghayi Sports Complex in Qarchak Country. In the tournament, after the competition of more than 150 adolescent ambassadors of tobacco control in Tehran province, the best (first to third) teams and competitors were appreciated by the province and country officials and were awarded prizes.
