Virtual Meeting of Provincial Representatives of the Iranian Anti‑Tobacco Association Focuses on “Tobacco‑Free Generation” and Expansion of the PAD Prevention Initiative

A virtual meeting between the Secretary‑General of the Iranian Anti‑Tobacco Association and the managers of the Association’s local branches across various counties was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with the aim of reviewing activities conducted during National Tobacco‑Free Week and exchanging perspectives on the expansion of preventive and cultural initiatives.

According to the Association’s Public Relations Office, the meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammadreza Masjedi, Secretary‑General of the Association; Dr. Sharif Torkamanzadeh, Scientific Advisor; Ali Ata Taheri, Executive Director; and Mahdieh Mohammadi, Head of the County Affairs Unit.

During the session, representatives from the county branches presented reports outlining the activities and programs implemented in their respective regions during National Tobacco‑Free Week.

Dr. Mohammadreza Masjedi expressed his appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the provincial and county representatives and referred to them as the “frontline leaders in the fight against tobacco.” He emphasized the importance of activating provincial capacities and implementing effective initiatives aimed at achieving tobacco‑free cities.

In the continuation of the meeting, Dr. Sharif Torkamanzadeh highlighted the implementation of the “SADPAD” (Student Tobacco Use Prevention Program), developed in accordance with a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education. He stressed the necessity of actively advancing the project in county branches and affirmed that the Association would fully support all measures required for the nationwide expansion and success of the initiative.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on expanding educational, cultural, and community‑based programs, as well as strengthening cooperation among county branches in order to advance the strategic objective of achieving a “Tobacco‑Free Generation.”
