Field Assessment of “Tobacco-Free Hospital” Policy Implementation at Kasra Hospital

Tehran – As part of the ongoing efforts to implement the “Tobacco-Free Hospital” initiative, Zahra Sadr, Director of the Women’s Unit at the Population Against Tobacco Abuse (PATA) and a retired nursing administrator, conducted a comprehensive site visit to Kasra Hospital on Sunday, August 10. The visit focused on evaluating the progress of the initiative’s 12-step compliance framework.

Collaborative Review

The visit commenced with a formal session attended by key stakeholders, including the hospital’s Nursing Director, Technical Manager, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) officer, and Public Relations manager. During this meeting, hospital administration presented a detailed report on the actions taken thus far to align with the “Tobacco-Free Hospital” standards. The discussion centered on assessing the execution of the 12-step roadmap and addressing operational challenges.

On-Site Evaluation

Following the meeting, Sadr conducted a thorough field inspection of the hospital premises. The assessment involved direct observation of facilities, a review of internal documentation, and interviews with department heads and staff members. This on-site evaluation aimed to gauge the current status of compliance and identify areas for further improvement in maintaining a smoke-free healthcare environment.
