The Message of a “Tobacco-Free Generation” Resonates at the Ghadir Kilometer-Long Celebration

Coinciding with the capital’s largest family event on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association (IATA) set up a cultural and educational booth along the route of the Ghadir Kilometer-Long Celebration. The initiative aimed to showcase the association’s activities and convey the vital message of a “Tobacco-Free Generation” to children and adolescents.

According to the IATA Public Relations, in celebration of Eid al-Ghadir and concurrent with the massive Ghadir Kilometer-Long event in Tehran, the association actively participated in this grand public gathering by hosting a dedicated cultural and educational booth on Hafez Street on Thursday.

During the event, which saw widespread participation from families and citizens from all walks of life, instructors from the “Clean Breath” (Nafas-e Pak) initiative engaged the younger audience. Through puppet shows and tailored educational programs, they effectively communicated concepts related to a healthy lifestyle and tobacco prevention to children and youth in an engaging and impactful manner.

Furthermore, educational and informative brochures were distributed among attendees. IATA representatives introduced the NGO’s core objectives, programs, and activities while answering citizens’ questions regarding the harmful effects of tobacco use and effective prevention strategies. They also took the opportunity to introduce the association’s free smoking cessation counseling clinic.

Recognized as Tehran’s largest family gathering, this year’s Ghadir Kilometer-Long Celebration featured 2,500 grassroots pavilions stretching from Imam Hossein Square to Azadi Square, hosting millions of citizens in a grand public and religious festivity.

By leveraging this immense cultural platform, the Iranian Anti-Tobacco Association underscored the critical importance of promoting a “Tobacco-Free Home” culture and highlighted the pivotal role families play in safeguarding the health of future generations.
