In a meeting attended by Mr. Nourbakhsh, Head of UNESCO Chair on Social Health and Development, Mr. Saeedabadi, Mr. Mohammad Reza Masjadi, Secretary-General of IATA, Ms. Dibaji, and others the role of NGOs in the UNESCO Chair on Social Health was emphasized.
At this meeting, Dr. Nourbakhsh welcomed the activities of this NGO and said: “Awareness-raising in the field of health in the society, developing internal and international communication, and cases like these will be among our common goals in the future.”
He continued: “It is important to have the synergy between NGOs and UNESCO chair on social health. It makes it possible to employ the capacities of health activists in the NGOs to take effective actions.”
He further emphasized the importance of self-care and social health and said: “one of the important missions of NGOs working in the field of health is to pay attention to the prevention and self-care; by employing existed infrastructure and facilities, we hope that by employing existed infrastructure and facilities, we can succeed to strengthen the activities of healthy life-style committee and reaching our shared missions.”
Then, the Secretary-General of IATA explained about the PAD (Prevention against Tobacco Dependence, Path to Tobacco Free City) program in Varamin and said: “in case of collaboration, it is possible to implement this program nationwide in all the schools and educational centers, that will result in significant actions for preventing tobacco consumption among the student all over the country.
He continued: “the PAD program and Salamat-Yar school that are implemented by IATA and Iranian Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (INCDA) are focusing on the educational places in Tehran and Varamin. These programs can be implemented at the national level through collaboration with relevant agencies.”
Using the media capacity of parties, reflecting the activities done in international forums, strengthening the collaboration and communication between IATA and UNESCO chair on social health, were other discussed subjects in this meeting. Also, an MOU was signed between INCDA and UNESCO chair on social health.
