
Tehran, Iran — On Saturday, September 19, 2025, Mr. Arablou, Quality Assessment Expert from Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), conducted an official evaluation visit to the Tobacco Control Research Center at the Iranian Anti-Smoking Association (IASA). This visit was carried out as part of the annual institutional and qualitative evaluation framework governing affiliated research centers.
Objectives of the Institutional Review
The primary purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive qualitative appraisal of the center’s scientific outputs, ongoing research programs, and operational infrastructure. The assessment aligns with the annual quantitative and qualitative performance indicators established to monitor and elevate the quality of health research institutions.
Evaluating Scientific Capacities and Research Trajectories
During the session, various departments of the Research Center were evaluated. Discussions centered on:
- Current and completed research projects in the domain of tobacco prevention and policy.
- Evaluating existing academic infrastructure and research capacities.
- Identifying strategic opportunities to expand inter-institutional and multidisciplinary scientific collaborations.
Mr. Arablou commended the ongoing initiatives and underscored the necessity of reinforcing evidence-based research to inform national tobacco control policies and public health interventions.
